RAGBRAI Kids Art Contest looking for entries

The RAGBRAI Kids Art Contest is seeking entries from elementary-aged students in Spencer. RAGBRAI's "Kick Your Wheels Up!" theme should be incorporated into the drawing, painting or collage.

"I think it is great to involve the kids in the community. RAGBRAI is evolving into a community event involving kids, biking and getting them active. Those are all important parts of what RAGBRAI strives to do," Clay County Fair marketing and sponsorship manager Andrea Wiesenmeyer said.

Artwork should be no larger than 8.5-by-11 inches and each entry must be clearly marked with the child's name, age, address, school and phone number.

The deadline for entries is May 19. Completed entries should be dropped off at the Spencer Chamber of Commerce, 1805 Highway Blvd., or with art teachers.

The local winner will win a Spencer RAGBRAI prize pack and be entered into the statewide contest for a chance to win the grand prize of $350.

In other RAGBRAI news, there is a town hall meeting 5-7 p.m. on May, 23 to discuss RAGBRAI at the Stables on the Clay County Fairgrounds. Attendees will have the chance to be the first to get their official Spencer RAGBRAI T-shirts and vote for his or her favorite children's art contest entry.
